 Staying in a London Flat

A London flat is ideal to stay if one is on a long-term visit, for example, if one is having an intensive study of the English as a second language. There are lots of factors to consider before settling down on a particular flat. If one is a student, the person must consider the location of the flat vis-à-vis the location of the school. The nearer the apartment to the school, the better so one can be spared of the burdensome transportation expenses into hailing those black taxicabs or even hitching a ride in the Tube. Therefore, it is better if one’s rented room is just a walk away from where one is schooling.

Before committing yourself to rent a condo unit, you must check in at a motel first so one will not be pressured in renting the best flat suitable to his or her needs. So before settling on an agreement with the landlady, one must first conduct a visual inspection on all the flats that he will be evaluating. Because there is a saying that multiple heads are better than one, it is best recommended that you find your own roommate so you can share opinions if the unit that you’re about to rent is okay. One can definitely reap from the relationship because your roommate later on will eventually share in the expenses that both of you have incurred while staying at the condo suite that you have chosen. These expenses include, among others, electricity, landline phone bills, water, high speed Internet access and cable television. While apartment hunting, you and your future roommate must physically inspect each flat that comes your way in terms of safety. Find out if the flat has passed the strict building regulations of London. Find out if the fire exit is workable. Find out if the unit that you’re about to rent is infested of vermin such as rats and ants. And if it’s a furnished one, inquire from the landlady whether all the appliances are functioning properly.

Even though the 2012 London Olympics is still some five years away, City Hall has already expected that the number of tourists will keep on rising and rising. This tourism influx has been noted favorably by London’s apartment industry and a big demand for renting flats is at hand. One of the lowest-priced districts in London is the Essex region where most of the London Olympics development is focused. Essex is also near where South Woodford, Woodford, Wanstead and Waltham Forest are located. You can hunt for cheap flats there.

Another reason why today is a viable time to rent flats instead of owning properties in London is the rising price of real estate here. Besides, owning a property is only ideal for people who’ll remain in London forever. I don’t think you’d do that, wouldn’t you? So definitely there is only one option left and that is to rent. So good luck and have a good time scouting out the 609 square miles of London.
